You Are Here :Strategic Planning .... Tees Valley Structure Plan
Under the provisions of the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004 Regional Spatial Strategies and Local Development Frameworks will collectively replace Structure Plans and Local Plans. In the case of the adopted Tees Valley Structure Plan , it will cease to have effect after 27th September 2007.
However provision was made under the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act for saving certain structure plan policies to prevent a policy void until the Regional Spatial Strategy is adopted.
Following consultation with the Tees Valley Joint Strategy Unit and the Tees Valley unitary authorities the North East Assembly, as regional planning body, submitted an application to the secretary of state for the Communities and Local Government to save a number of Tees Valley Structure Plan Policies.
The Secretary of State has now considered this application and a Direction has been issued by the Secretary of State together with a schedule specifying those policies in the Tees Valley Structure Plan that have been saved. Policies not listed in the schedule will expire on 27th September 2007.
