Outline of Responsibilities
The Strategic Planning Team’s overall responsibility is the preparation of the Tees Valley Structure Plan. Other responsibilities for the Strategic Planning Team include:
- Advising on waste and minerals planning issues;
- Commenting on major planning applications;
- Commenting on Local Plans, adjacent structure plans and other strategic policies;
- Contributing to Regional Planning Advice;
- Maintaining and updating information about the environment
The Strategic Planning Team is accountable to the Planning and Economic Development Board of Tees Valley Unlimited.
The Team also participated in an Interreg IIc project on 'Sustainable Urban Development and Housing Markets'. The results of the local research in the Tees Valley are available in the report "Study of Households on Greenfield and Previously-developed Housing Land".
Aim & Objectives of the Strategic Planning Team
The aim of the Strategic Planning Team is To provide strategic planning advice to a consistently high standard, within agreed timescales.
The objectives of the Strategic Planning Team are to:
- Develop a work programme which takes forward the City Region Investment Plan.
- Assist in the development of an effective monitoring framework for regional and sub-regional plans, programmes and strategies.
- Represent the interests of the Tees Valley at regional level, particularly through the regional spatial strategy.
