The Tees Valley City Region Development Programme (TVCRDP) outlines in detail when and how this regeneration will be delivered. Key stakeholders are the Tees Valley Joint Strategy Unit (and its five constituent Local Authorities), the Stockton-Middlesbrough Initiative, the Highways Agency and the North East Assembly. The study is being jointly funding by these organisations.
The study has been split into two stages:
- A scoping exercise to review the current problems and aspirations of stakeholders, review sources and availability of data, review the status and availability of current transport models and develop an agreed framework to enable the modelling of all future development proposals to be undertaken;
- In light of the findings of the scoping exercise, the main study will involve the detailed assessment of the impact of the development, as outlined and agreed in the framework, on the transport networks across the sub-region. It will test a range of options and develop a preferred package of transport measures that will best facilitate the TVCRDP.
Stage 1 is due to be completed by December 2006 and the conclusions of the overall study should be available July 2007. The outputs will be used to update the Tees Valley Demand Management Framework, assist in the development of other major transport schemes, help facilitate the Stockton-Middlesbrough Initiative and will be used to develop a Congestion Strategy for the coming years.
