Tees Valley Heavy Rail Improvements
The JSU is working closely with key partners to develop a package of heavy rail improvements designed to provide sufficient capacity and service flexibility for the national, regional and local passenger and freight services within the Tees Valley over the next 20 years. The key elements include:
- Capacity Improvements at Darlington South on the East Coast Main Line;
- Capacity Improvements at Bowesfield and Eaglescliffe junctiuons;
- Additional capacity on the Durham Coast line;
- Possible use of Stillington line for new passenger services and/or more freight services;
- Platform capacity improvements at Darlington and Middlesbrough Stations.
