Durham Tees Valley Airport (DTVA) is widely regarded as a key economic driver for the sub-region and is seen as a major site in contributing towards regeneration in the Tees Valley. With the planned expansion of the Airport, it is hoped this strong economic position will continue to develop and maintain its status as a key part of the sub-region for many years to come. The Airport is located in an area where very little residential property is affected by airport noise and also has vacant spaces around that provides the potential for expansion. It is important that the airport becomes an integral part of the sub region so that good transport links to various parts of Europe (and the rest of the world) can be established, as well as creating new employment opportunities and attracting new businesses to its vicinity. The table below shows how the Airport is consistently growing and further emphasises the need for prompt expansion of the current site.

Durham Tees Valley Airport – Air Transport Forum
The Air Transport Forum (ATF) has been established for over a year and produced its first annual report in March 2006. The forum was established to monitor progress and to discuss any transport related issues concerning the Airport. Membership of the ATF comprises of the Tees Valley Local Authorities, public transport representatives, key stakeholders and other interested parties. This year three sub-groups have also been formed to discuss, in detail, issues relating to bus and rail and a group to analyse any data or figures concerning the Airport.
